Easton, MD — The Factory Arts Project, Talbot County’s newest performing arts organization, announced an exciting new chapter during its recent Welcome to the Circus fundraiser at the historic Avalon Theatre. The organization revealed that it will merge with Cambridge’s Groove Theatre Company, uniting two bold and creative forces in hopes of expanding artistic opportunity and deepening community connections through the arts on the Mid-Shore.
As part of the evening’s announcements, The Factory also unveiled its 2026 season lineup, featuring an array of productions that highlight diverse voices and innovative storytelling. The season will include (and may not be limited to):
• 53% Of | Directed by E.T. Wilford | Written by Steph Del Rosso
• Perfect Arrangement | Directed by Joe Fox | Written by Topher Payne
• Heroes of the Fourth Turning | Directed by Luci Thomas | Written by Will Arbery
• The Frogs | Directed by E.T. Wilford | Adapted by Bert Shevelove & Nathan Lane
“By joining with Groove Theatre, we’re not only combining resources and creative talent, but also strengthening the future of live, local theatre across the Eastern Shore,” said Cece Davis, Artistic Director of The Factory. “This partnership will allow us to present even more daring productions and reach wider audiences.”
The evening also celebrated the progress of The Factory’s new “headquarters” and costume shop. After losing their previous space to extensive water damage from a building fire, The Factory Arts Project and Costume Shop has now secured a new permanent home in downtown Easton. While settling in and getting organized, the costume shop will remain closed to the public, but more details on the reopening will be shared in the coming months.
The Factory is currently seeking show-specific sponsors for the 2026 season and invites local businesses and individuals to be part of this exciting new era. “Live theatre is more than entertainment—it’s an essential part of how a community connects to itself,” said Madeline Megahan, Marketing Director for The Factory. “Our mission has always been to create reinvigorated emotional experiences at the intersection of art, design, and performance. Every production, in its own way, is a mirror held up to life and a chance for us to share with our community the raw and beautiful truth of what it means to be human. When our community rallies around us—by sponsoring our productions, supporting our fundraisers, or simply showing up—they aren’t just sustaining the arts; they’re stepping into the story with us, playing an active part in bringing those shared human experiences to life.”
