Frustrated that theater has lost its bite, Dionysos, the god of drama, travels to the underworld to bring back a great playwright who can wake up a troubled world. Sondheim’s witty take on Aristophanes’ 2,400-year-old comedy is equal parts slapstick, satire, and a genuine case for why art still matters.
